Cancer Support Groups in Singapore

What Are Cancer Support Groups?

Cancer support groups bring together patients, survivors and caregivers who share similar experiences. They provide a safe, supportive environment where members can openly share their thoughts, learn from one another and build meaningful connections.

In Singapore, support groups come in many forms. Some are led by peers with lived experience, while others are facilitated by counsellors or healthcare professionals. There are also communities tailored to different age groups, cancer diagnoses and caregiving roles, so you can find support that speaks to your unique journey.

Why Join a Cancer Support Group?

A cancer diagnosis impacts every part of life not just your body, but also your emotions, relationships, work and future plans. A support group offers more than advice; it offers a community that understands the realities of living with cancer and walks alongside you through every stage of the journey.

Cancer Support Groups for Young Adults

Young adults diagnosed with cancer often face unique challenges alongside treatment. They may be balancing their studies, building a career, planning for a family or adjusting to changes in relationships and identity.

Connecting with peers in a similar stage of life can make a meaningful difference. Young adult cancer support groups provide a space to share experiences, exchange advice and encourage one another through the ups and downs of the cancer journey.

Strong Olive Support Group Programmes

Strong Olive is the young adult cancer support community by 365 Cancer Prevention Society for individuals aged 45 and below whose lives have been impacted by cancer. We believe that behind every cancer diagnosis is a person with dreams, relationships and aspirations worth nurturing.

Our programmes are designed to help young adults find connection, rediscover confidence and live meaningfully beyond their diagnosis. Through peer support, shared experiences and community activities, we create opportunities for young adults to grow—not just survive.

Some of our programmes include:

  • Moving Mountains
    • A peer support group where young adults can openly share their experiences, discuss challenges and learn from one another in a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Walking Club
    • A community that encourages young adults affected by cancer to stay active, connect with peers and support one another through regular group walks.

At Strong Olive, we recognise that no two cancer journeys are the same. We care for the whole person—not just the diagnosis—by supporting patients, survivors and caregivers through every season of the journey with compassion, connection and hope.

How to Choose the Right Support Group

Finding the right support group is a personal decision. Consider what matters most to you, such as:

  • Stage of your cancer journey : Whether you’re newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, in recovery or a caregiver.
  • Age group : Connecting with people in a similar life stage can make conversations more relatable.
  • Cancer type : Some groups focus on specific cancers, while others welcome individuals from all diagnoses.
  • Meeting format : Choose between in-person sessions, online meetings or a combination of both.

It’s perfectly normal to explore a few groups before finding one that feels right for you.
